Flathead Lake/ Polson MT

Staying at Polson Motorcoach Resort was something we always dreamed of doing. Located near  beautiful Flathead Lake, this amazing resort has incredible sites that are surrounded by beautiful mountains. The airstrip was right across from our site, so we got to watch the planes takeoff and land. We met some nice people here and  ended up being a great weekend. The cherries grown on the east side of the lake are famous for being the best around.

Our next stop is Stevensville MT. It’s located in the Bitterroot Valley. We’ll be in this area for a week or so. Then on to Portland, OR.

Calgary / Cochrane, Alberta

Well, its time for us to say goodbye to Canada. After spending almost two months here, going up to Alaska and coming back, we have really enjoyed it. The country is beautiful, including the people and scenery.

Calgary was fun to visit. We used the transit system to get to and from. After spending the day in the city, Calgary is a great place.

Kananaskis Country, located just west of the city, is a great area to hike and explore the beautiful countryside. There were lots of bear warnings and trail closures, so we skipped the hiking that day. Still, it was fun exploring.

Cochrane, AB. is a really cool town. The bike/walking paths are great. It’s a very clean, friendly kind of place. We loved our stay here. We’re already talking about our return trip to this area.

We’re leaving Canada and heading to the US in the morning. On the way to Missoula, MT.  we’re stopping at Flathead Lake, MT.  for a few days.

Banff / Lake Louise AB.

While staying in the Calgary area, we took a gondola ride to the top of Sulphur Mountain in Banff. It was very steep and high. What a view from the top! It’s still smokey in the area, so the pictures are a little hazy.

Yesterday, we took a cruise on Lake Minnewanka. Located just outside Banff, the hour-long cruise around the lake gave us incredible views of the surrounding mountains.

Icefields Parkway

We took a drive down the parkway to two sets of falls named Athabasca and Sunwapta.

The area is full of glaciers. We rode a giant all-terrain Ice Explorer vehicle onto the 1000 ft thick Athabasca Glacier. Drinking the pure glacier water was very refreshing.

The Glacier Skywalk is a glass-floored deck suspended 918 ft in the air. Lori had fun, while I watched from the safety of solid ground!

A few more pictures of the beautiful area. There is still a smokey haze due to the B.C. wildfires.
